We saw a transparent worm like creature with a distinctive thrashing motion- looking as though one end was fixed to a piece of algae whilst the mouth searched for food.
Our research revealed these worms as ‘Nematodes’ or round worms, free living non parasitic worms, that are a very important part of the pond ecosystem. They will provide a food source for our tadpoles & other aquatic life, so it’s very pleasing to see them in our water sample on the second microscopy evening!
We haven’t posted about this yet – but we will!
